Hello! I'm Stefan Maurbakken, a licensed Stockholm guide, founder of Den gröna guiden – and now also the voice behind Stockholm City Walks. If you’ve ever wondered, “Does he guide in English too?” – the answer is a big YES. (And in Italian, if needed!)

So why this new English-speaking channel?

Because over the years, I've had so many requests from international guests, expats, friends of friends, and curious travelers. They wanted a guide who didn’t just show the landmarks – but who told the stories behind them. Who knew the quiet corners as well as the royal halls. Who could make the past come alive in the present.
And who offered private, custom-made tours – not cookie-cutter tourist groups.

That’s where I come in.

Why I Guide

I started guiding because I’m endlessly curious about people and places. About what makes a city breathe, change, and remember. I guide to connect the dots between stories and streets, between the past and the present – and between you and Stockholm.

My walks are often personal. Sometimes quirky. Always based in solid history and a love for this city. Whether we’re exploring medieval alleys, industrial heritage, literary legends or hidden gardens, I want you to feel something – a spark of connection, recognition, or wonder.

A Green Thread

If you’ve heard of me before, it might be from my Swedish platform Den gröna guiden (“The Green Guide”). That name reflects both my passion for sustainability and for finding green threads in history – stories of growth, resilience, innovation and everyday life.
I bring that same spirit into my English-language walks. But this space is designed especially for you – international guests, families, small groups, private events.

No group is too small. No question too odd. And no walk too ordinary.

What's Next?

Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing stories, walk ideas, travel tips and inspiration here on the blog – and over on Instagram and Facebook.

If you're curious about a tour, just send a message. I'm always happy to tailor something for your visit – or to recommend a walk that fits your interests and pace.

Let’s walk, talk and explore – one street at a time.

Warmly,
Stefan Maurbakken
